IHG Hotels & Resorts has collaborated with EnviroSpark, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, to enhance sustainable travel options for guests. The first Canadian project under this collaboration is now live at Crowne Plaza Fredericton-Lord Beaverbrook, featuring three Level 2 Tesla chargers. This initiative reflects IHG’s ongoing commitment to supporting a low-carbon future and meeting the growing demand for EV infrastructure.

Expanding Sustainable Infrastructure Across North America

In early 2024, IHG announced an agreement with EnviroSpark to make EV chargers available to all IHG-branded hotels in North America. This built on the success of more than 1,100 IHG hotels already equipped with EV charging infrastructure and marked a significant step towards expanding sustainable amenities across the portfolio.

With EV charging now a key consideration for many corporate and leisure travelers, IHG is helping properties remain competitive by meeting this growing expectation. For guests, the availability of convenient charging can enhance their travel experience and help to reinforce IHG’s reputation as a sustainability leader, guided by Journey to Tomorrow. For owners, the program aims to create tangible value, potentially boosting guest satisfaction and loyalty, strengthening brand perception as environmentally responsible, and potentially unlocking new revenue opportunities through charging sessions and power reimbursement.

To enhance the guest experience further, IHG has introduced an EV-charger search filter on its award-winning IHG One Rewards mobile app, making it easier for travelers to plan ahead and select properties with charging facilities.

Flexible Solutions for Hotel Owners

Through this program, hotel owners can choose flexible options tailored to their needs, including IHG’s Full Network Program. This model offers minimal capital expenditure, revenue-sharing opportunities and utility cost coverage, supporting operational ease for properties while potentially delivering long-term value.
